I wrote an email to Frito-Lay regarding their decision to stop producing the biodegradable packaging for Sun Chips because customers complained it was too loud.   I think it’s ridiculous that Americans are more concerned with the noise level of their GMO-filled snacks than the environment in which they live.

Here’s our response to your e-mail – RE: the change in Sun Chips packaging, Reference #011212747A

Hi Sara,

Thank you for contacting us. Your comments are important and we appreciate the time you took to share them.

You may be interested in our Natural line of snacks that do not contain genetically modified ingredients, are made with organic corn, and contain no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives and MSG. Best of all, this line includes the popular chip brands of Lay’s, Ruffles, Cheetos and Tostitos. You’ll find these snacks in the natural foods section of most grocery stores.

Our continued success depends on providing you with consistently great experiences and great-tasting snacks. Your feedback is valued and will be shared with the appropriate team in our company.

We consider you a valued consumer and hope you will continue to enjoy snacks from Frito-Lay.

Best regards,

Frito-Lay Consumer Affairs

P.S. Today, 33% of every 10 1/2 oz. size SunChips® bag is made with renewable, plant based materials. This is our first step to reduce the amount of non-renewable materials we use for packaging.

I just read this article about Frito-Lay being sued for fraud for claiming their Natural line was made from “all-natural” ingredients which would mean they do not contain GMO’s; which they do!
